Can Aloe Vera Clear Up Acne and Spots?

Can Aloe Vera cure acneAcne is the term for skin where the pores have become blocked and inflamed, causing spots, pimples or cysts. It mostly affects teenagers, although anyone up to about 40 years old can suffer from acne. There is definitely a hormonal link.

It’s unfortunate that it seems to affect teenagers the most, particularly since they’re at so many different crucial stages in their lives - gaining confidence, maturing physically and emotionally, making decisions about their futures, possibly taking exams as well, working out relationships… it’s a tough few years! To suffer from acne on top of that can really knock a person’s confidence.

Acne is caused when skin pores get blocked either by tiny hairs, bacteria, or sebum - dead cells from within the sebaceous follicle itself. These things cause tiny ‘plugs’ that prevent the skin working effectively, and lead to inflammation and spots or pimples.

The skin is a pretty complex structure. Each skin pore contains a tiny hair follicle, with a sebaceous gland at its base which produce sebum to lubricate the hair and skin. Sometimes these pores can get blocked by a tiny hair, sebum, dead cells from within the sebaceous gland, or sometimes bacteria. When the pores do get blocked, it can cause irritation and inflammation which can lead to spots, pimples or cysts - what we term acne.
