Can Aloe Vera help with Eczema and Dry Skin

Eczema is very common allergic condition that affects the skin. It’s also called dermatitis, which is simply another name for eczema.

Although there are a number of different types of eczema, they all stem from inflammation and irritation of the skin. And ususally, there is an allergic element to people developing ezcema, which is why eczema is linked to other allergic ocnditions such as asthma and hayfever.

Unfortunately, to those people who do have an allergy, eczema can be triggered by just about anything touching the skin. It might be the nickel in jean rivets, or a particular brand of washing powder, a particular type of fibre in clothing (wool, polyester, etc.) or anything that the person has developed a sensitivity to. (see below)

Usually, the skin becomes dry, red and flaky. It may also be mildly irritated, sensitive and itchy; sometimes it can feel as if it’s burning and intensely painful.

Eczema is very common, and affects all races and ages, from young infants to the elderly. It’s estimated that about 2% of adults have eczema, and about 18-20% of children have some eczema.

It tends to start in early childhood, and most people show signs or tendencies of ezcema by the time they’re about 5 years old.

But the good news is that from the above figures, you can see that although about a fifth of children have some type or incidence of eczema, only about 2% of adults still exhibit symptoms of ezcema -which means it tends to reduce and stop by adulthood.

Eczema can be a difficult condition to treat. It can also go in cycles, whereby the symptoms of eczema can fade for a while, only to return some months or years later. Eczema is not contagious.

Of course, the natural urge is to scratch and rub the affected area - which only makes the condition worse. So most treatments look to soothe the affected area with a cream or emollient.

The exact cause of eczema is still unknown. It’s understood that eczema is controlled and activated by the immune system, and it has some similarities with other allergic conditions - but it isn’t quite the same as other allergies.

When the person touches the allergen, it starts an allergic reaction which results in eczema. But eczema varies from person to person. Eczema can develop the very first time someone touches an allergen, or it might develop over weeks or months with repeated contact.

Here are some common allergens that can trigger eczema:

Soaps, Detergents, Shower Gels

Weather (hot, cold, humid, or dry)

Jewelry, belt buckles, rivets in jeans, nickel

Creams, lotions, aftershaves or perfumes

Certain foods can exacerbate the symptoms of eczema

Certain types of clothing or fabric (polyester, wool, man-made fibres)

Sweating and damp skin

Emotional or mental stress

Most treatments look to reduce exposure to whatever is causing the eczema (if it can be identified) and then a cream to soothe the dry, flaky or itchy skin. Sometimes children wear cotton gloves at night, so they can’t scratch too much in bed.

But very few treatments look at what can be done to reduce the immune response to eczema. Without doubt, the immune system plays a large part in eczema, so it makes sense to try to reduce the way the immune system responds to certain allergens, that for other people, cause no problem at all.

And that’s where Aloe Vera comes in. As a very powerful and natural substance, it’s also a very effective immune modulator. In other words, it helps reduce the immune system’s response to environmental triggers and allergens. Yet it doesn’t just preevent the immune system doing it’s job, like a steroid; rather it helps the immune system find its natural balance so it doesn’t react to things that it doesn’t need to.

There are now thousands of people who have found benefits from taking aloe vera supplements to relieve the symptoms of eczema.

Aloeride has been getting a lot of press recently…

A number of glossy magazines have been praising Aloeride recently. Some say Aloeride is one of the most effective aloe vera products around.

Often, the amount of press coverage a product gets is either due to very effective PR, or the fact that the product is really good and people are talking about it. It’s even more impressive when you know the product mentioned hasn’t paid for the coverage.

Aloeride has been featured in a number of respected newspapers and magazines around the world, which indicates the product must be doing something right - only the best products get free features in the press.

You can read more about the Aloeride press coverage here

In 2007 leading women’s lifestyle magazine, Prima, ran a feature on how women had overcome various conditions that limited their quality of life.

As part of this feature a 47 year old Crohn’s disease sufferer was interviewed about how effective Aloeride has been for her condition:

Jean Heal, 47, Wiltshire, UK

“The change the Aloeride pills made was astounding. By the third day, I had no tummy pain (and I had lived with pain for nearly 20 years) and, within weeks, I was going to the loo less often, and gaining weight.”

Click here to read Jean’s Aloeride success story

This, along with features in Health Matters and Yoga magazine, as well as numerous articles in national and local newspapers around the world, means Aloeride is fast becoming the most recognised pure aloe vera products around.

National radio stations have also featured Aloeride

The founder of Aloeride - Han van de Braak was interviewed on a number of radio stations throughout the UK as part of IBS Awareness month in April 2008.

This shows that Aloeride is a product you can trust. If the founder is willing to go on national radio personally to be interviewed, they must have a great deal of confidence in how effective their aloe vera product is.

As a Chartered Physiotherapist, Registered Acupuncturist and Naturopath, he is highly qualified to talk about such issues. He has run his own successful health clinic for over 20 years; and many of his patients have already seen great health benefits from using Aloeride.

You can read more on the medical side of Aloeride here

Limited time 3 for 2 trial offer

Because the manufacturers are so confident that Aloeride is better than other aloe vera products you may have tried before, they’re offering a limited time trial offer.

If you purchase 2 boxes today, they’ll give you a third box completely free of charge.

This offer is unlikely to be around much longer as the media coverage has led to some big orders and demand is beginning to exceed supply. We recommend you take advantage of the free box offer today to avoid missing out.

Aloe vera is widely known, yet oddly it’s little appreciated for all its possible health benefits.

Although it looks like a cactus, the Aloe vera plant is actually a member of the lily and onion family. So it’s a succulent - ie. it holds water in its fleshy leaves. Its’s been used medicinally for thousands of years, and has been known for its healing qualities for as long as records have been kept. Even as far back as 6500 B.C aloe vera was used and revered for its curative properties.

Still, it comes as a surprise to most people that aloe vera is not just treatment for minor cuts and burns. Of course, it’s very effective as a topical salve or ointment. However, taking aloe vera as a food supplement can offer enormous health benefits most people are completely unaware of.

To understand the benefits of aloe vera, we need to understand that a lot of our health problems come from two areas—a weakened or compromised digestive system, and a weakened or compromised immune system.

We’re not necessarily talking about clinical symptoms here; it’s often the case that people might say they’re fine, and there’s nothing to worry the doctor about, but they’re run down, or getting a lot of coughs and colds, or suffering from low-grade constipation, diarrhea and other digestive symptoms. Many people do have problems in their digestive tract and just think it’s normal, or ‘just how it is’.

It doesn’t have to be.

Our diets in the Western world are generally very high in sugar, salt and saturated fats. There’s also a heavy dependence on wheat and gluten - bread, pasta, cakes, etc. Over time, if there’s not an adequate supply of roughage in the diet, or other vitamins and minerals are depleted, it can cause problems in the digestive system.

Many people have a mild sensitivity to wheat; and over time, the walls of the small intestine can become inflamed and consequently allow toxins and tiny food particles to escape into the bloodstream. This is known as ‘Leaky Gut Syndrome‘. The result is that the immune system and the liver are constantly forced to expend their energy fighting off these toxins and particles, which they see as foreign.

As you might expect, when the immune system is occupied fighting internal ‘enemies’, it becomes compromised and can’t adequately fight off real intruders like viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens. Wound healing is affected as well, because the body’s repair system is already stretched trying to repair the gut. Our immune system is an extraordinary mechanism, but it simply can’t fight everything at once.

The overall result for most people is a sub-clinical (ie. nothing to worry the doctor about) set of symptoms which might include fuzzy headaches, lethargy, increased colds, coughs and sore throats, not sleeping well, stomach upsets, diarrhea, constipation, or alternating between the two, bloating, gas, generally feeling tired, run down and under-the-weather….

Most people think this is just a sign of getting older, or something they have to live with. In fact, because this happens over a long period of time, most people don’t remember a time when they felt really great. So they consider it completely normal. It isn’t!

The good news about leaky gut syndrome and the weakening of the digestive and immune systems is that Aloe Vera can help both problems; and it can do so relatively quickly. In doing so, it improves overall health and makes you feel better, more vibrant, refreshed and generally ‘good’.

Aloe Vera gently cleanses and repairs your digestive tract, restoring the natural balance and regularity of your intestinal and digestive processes. This is much more important to overall health than many people realise. It might seem obvious, but adequately processing and digesting your food - and absorbing the vital vitamins and minerals from your food - is essential to good health. (Your food does contain lots of vitamins and minerals, doesn’t it? The vitamins & minerals they add to sugared breakfast cereals don’t count!)

When your digestive tract is healthy and is properly processing your food, then your liver and immune system can concentrate on doing their ‘proper’ job of cleansing the blood and defending and repairing your body.

By taking an aloe vera supplement every day, you’re improving your health naturally, and strengtheing your immune system. And as you know, when you’re feeling good and generally healthy, it’s much easier to accomplish everything you want to during the day…

Aloe Vera can bring almost immediate results in feeling better. It’s pure, non-allergenic, and completely safe.

Please click here for more information and to start feeling better today.

Aloe vera is completely safe. It comes from the aloe vera plant, and it’s been used for centuries. It’s also very versatile - it’s called an ‘adaptogen’ because it adapts to the body’s needs.

Many people know about the benefits of using Aloe Vera externally on the skin for cuts, bruises, dry skin, rashes, sunburn and so on. But not many people know about the health benefits of taking aloe vera internally.

Most of the benefits of taking aloe vera come from the fact that it contains so many different nutrients: vitamins, minerals, amino acids and trace elements. In aloe vera these vitamins and minerals are in a perfect balance that’s ideally suited for the body to use for its own healing and repair.

So although many people might consider Aloe Vera to be a ‘miracle cure’ or a ‘wonder plant’ - it’s probably more true that because aloe vera contains so many different nutrients, the body can use those nutrients to better heal itself…

Here are a few of the health benefits of taking aloe vera:

Detox
Aloe vera is a great natural detox aid. With our stressful lives, the pollution around us and the junk foods we eat, we all need to detox now and again. Some more often than others! Taking aloe vera supplements provides a rich cocktail of vitamins, minerals and trace elements to help our bodies deal with the everyday stresses of our lives.

Healthy Digestion
A healthy digestive system ensures we absorb as many of the nutrients from the foods we eat as possible . Since aloe vera has natural detoxing abilities, taking aloe vera can improve bowel regularity and increase protein absorption. It also helps to decrease the amount of unfriendly bacteria and yeast in our gut. Aloe vera has been shown to help reduce and soothe heartburn and other digestive problems.

Immune Support
Aloe vera is full of anti-oxidants - little powerhouses that fight free radicals within our body. Free radicals are the unstable compounds produced as by-products of metabolism. They’re thought to contribute to various illnesses and diseases as increasing the ageing process. Taking aloe vera regularly gives the body a good supply of anti-oxidants, which boosts the immune system.

Reduce Inflammation
Aloe vera contains 12 substances which slow down or inhibit inflammation, without any side-effects. Many people say that taking aloe vera juice helps with their stiff, swollen or painful joints.

Healthy Skin
Taking aloe vera supplements adds a rich supply of raw materials to your diet, which can produce and maintain really healthy skin. The skin replaces itself every 28 days. Using the nutritional building blocks of aloe vera, the skin can use these nutrients daily to help combat the effects of ageing. Aloe vera also helps in soothing minor burns, cuts, scrapes and skin irritations.

Regulate Energy Levels
Taking aloe vera allows the body to cleanse the digestive system. Our diets include many substances which can cause fatigue and exhaustion. Taken regularly, aloe vera flushes out these impurities, allowing the body to divert more energy to healing and repair, not just digestion. This ensures a greater feeling of well-being, allowing energy levels to increase and helps maintain a healthy body weight.

Daily Dose of Vitamins & Minerals
Aloe vera contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12 (the aloe vera plant is one of the few plants in the world to contain vitamin B12), C, E, Folic Acid and Niacin. The human body cannot store some of these vitamins, so we need to supplement them regularly through our diet. The minerals found in aloe vera include Calcium, Sodium, Iron, Potassium, Copper, Zinc, Manganese, Magnesium, Chromium and more… Plenty of good nutrition in aloe vera!

Dental Health
Aloe vera is extremely helpful for your mouth and gums. As well as its natural anti-bacterial and anti-microbial actions, it contains vitamins and minerals which promote cell growth and healing. Many people report that aloe vera helps with bleeding gums and mouth ulcers.

Recent research has shown that adding good foods to our diets, rich in naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, is far better than adding supplements alone. The good news is that Aloe Vera is considered a food, rather than a supplement. So taking aloe vera is probably better than taking supplements alone, because our bodies can absorb all the nutrients in aloe vera more easily, and utilise them more effectively.

Aloe Vera, Children & Nutrition

We all know that nutrition is vital for all of us, but none more so than for growing children.

As we race into the 21st century, we’re looking for a world of convenience and speed. We’re living and working - and eating - faster than ever before.

And it’s not all good news - as Jamie Oliver’s TV series ‘School Dinners’ about school meals illustrated. Now more and more schools are starting to provide, or take into account, the idea of what constitutes a really healthy meal for children.

Most school lunches consist of burgers, pizzas, chips and crisps, with sugary drinks… High fat, high salt, high sugar - not a great recipe for healthy, thriving kids; and certainly not conducive to an afternoon of quiet learning!

Speaking to school teachers, they talk of placing the asthma inhalers at the back of the classroom for the kids to line up and take their inhalers after lunch. Is there any coincidence that this need dropped dramatically after the school started providing healthy lunches? Is there a link between diet and allergies?

Of course! We all know that peanuts can cause a devastating effect on some people. Equally some foods can cause sensitivities in people. Not as dramatic as peanuts maybe, but add them together, and over the longer term, they can still be very damaging.

They can cause skin problems, stomach problems, headaches, rashes, asthma, sleeping difficulties, digestive upsets, increased frequencies of coughs and colds, depressed immune system, lethargy, decreased attention span, learning difficulties… need I go on?

Sugar, salt, fats… usually the culprits.

Children seem to gravitate towards sweet and salt foods. Just look at any kids party and it’s amazing to see the array of sweets, crisps and junk food. Nothing wrong with having fun and having birthday cake — but does everything have to be so bad for you?

So how do you ensure your child is getting adequate nutrition? How can you ensure your child is getting a wide range of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other vital nutrients in today’s fast-paced world, as well as enjoying the occasional ‘treat’?

Aloe Vera is probably the answer.

Aloe Vera has been used for centuries as a medicinal ‘wonder plant’ that has a wide range of effects on a number of conditions from skin complaints and sunburn, to stomach and bowel problems. Yet, the true power of Aloe Vera is only just being realised today.

The reason it works so well on such a wide range of conditions, is that it contains a huge number of vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants and amino acids — in a balance that the body can absorb readily and easily. And this is the magic of Aloe Vera - not that it cures anything itself; but it provides all the nutrients the body needs. The body can then use the nutrients, which it might have been missing, to heal and repair itself.

One of the main benefits of Aloe Vera is that it strengthens the immune system. So kids stop getting quite as many coughs and colds as they used to; and when they do get them, they recover far more quickly. Good news - it has no negative side-effects. And it’s perfectly safe for infants and children.

Aloe Vera also helps with recovery from bumps, bruises, and common allergies, as well as tummy upsets. And many people have reported that their child has decreased their need for their allergy medications since taking Aloe Vera.

All in all, aloe vera is a completely natural extract that is loaded with minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, antimicrobials and anti inflammatory agents.

Because aloe vera has quite a bitter taste, we’ve found an aloe vera pill is often easier for a child to take. For an infant, you can simply sprinkle the powder into a beaker of juice. It’s the most potent Aloe Vera extract on earth. It’s 2.73 times more potent than any other Aloe Vera supplement that you can buy in the high street. Which also means that it’s the fastest acting aloe vera supplement you can buy.

It’s had some impressive and dramatic results with a wide variety of conditions. But most importantly, it’s a very effective preventative measure in a tiny pill. All the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and anti-oxidants a growing child (or adult) could need.

How Aloe Vera Helps Joint Stiffness

There are millions of people who suffer from osteoarthritis - a painful condition where the cartilage between joints, which normally acts as a cushion, gradually wears away. The usual course of treatment involves non-steroidals (NSAIDS) and COX-II inhibitors to help control pain and inflammation.

But drugs like this carry the risk of undesired side-effects, ranging from stomach ulcers to liver problems, heart disease and more. The recent withdrawal from the pharmaceutical market of drugs like Vioxx and Celebrex are a testament to that. And studies have repeatedly shown that long-term use of NSAIDS can in fact accelerate the degenerative process, rather than slow it down.

So millions of people want a viable alternative to pharmaceutical drugs, that also show promise of having an effect on the symptoms of osteoarthritis, but without the possible side-effects.

Several recent studies have documented some promising results with Aloe Vera, particularly when taken together with Chondroitin Sulphate, MSM and Vitamin C.

These are all natural substances that can help support the structure and health of cartilage. They also seem to keep the cartilage well-hydrated, which enhances its role as a cushion between the joints. And they have none of the negative side-effects of pharmaceutical drugs.

Although there are a number of supplements on the market, there is one that we would recommend that has been manufactured to pharmaceutical standards. It contains only pure Aloe Vera, plus it’s has the unique twist of being blended into a capsule, so it’s easy to take, gets to work immediately, and you get all the advantages and benefits of pure aloe vera.

For a practical and nutritious way to defend against the signs of joint wear and tear, give Aloeride a try. You’ll be glad you did.

Most of us take digestion for granted… until something happens that interrupts the otherwise normal flow of digestion. Under normal conditions, it’s effortless, requires no intervention from us, and remains for the most part outside our awareness.

But for a growing number of people, digestion is not that simple. Either from disease, food intolerances or allergies, that vision of digestion is merely wishful thinking.

When digestion goes awry, it can mean a wide range of symptoms from constipation and/or diarrhoea, stomach aches, cramps, heartburn and reflux. It might be just one of these digestive symptoms, or a combination of them. And they’re not only painful or uncomfortable, but they can grossly a person’s quality of life. And it also means that the problem needs attention.

Constipation is one of the most common digestive complaints. The definition of constipation includes infrequent bowel movements (although that by itself does not necessarily indicate constipation), difficulty passing a stool, and the feeling that there is incomplete evacuation of the bowels. Other symptoms of constipation include abdominal pain, bloating and distention.

Often constipation can be attributed to a diet low in fibre, inadequate fluid intake, or a sedentary lifestyle. Constipation can also occur as a side-effect of medications.

Diarrhoea is usually caused by parasites, bacteria or viruses. It can also indicate a chronic underlying condition, such as Crohn’s disease. In the western world, diarrhoea, although uncomfortable for a few days, is not usually life-threatening.

In the third world, where real dangers of dehydration are present, diarrhoea treatment needs to be swift to prevent complications. The usual treatment for diarrhoea is to replace lost fluids with an electrolyte mixture of water, sugars and salt.

Heartburn occurs when stomach acids come up through the oesophageal sphincter and irritate the soft tisues of the oesophagus, causing pain and inflammation. The pain is usually intense and felt over the breastbone near the heart. (Which is why it’s called heartburn, although it has nothing to do with the heart.)

The oesophageal sphincter is a ring of muscle that should allow food to travel only in one direction - downwards into the stomach and so into the rest of the digestive system. If the symptoms of acid reflux become chronic, it can lead to gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD or GORD depending on whether the US or British way of spelling oesophagus is used).

The treatment for acid reflux vary widely, but commonly a change of diet to less fatty foods and reducing caffeine is required, along with eliminating foods that cause reflux.
Drug treatment may be antacids, proton-pump inhibitors (PPI’s) or H2 blockers. If severe, surgical intervention may be called for.

As you can see, there’s a wide range of digestive complaints - and these are just the most common problems with digestion. Treatments range in effectiveness. And often people just live with the symptoms - either because they’re so used to the symptoms, they don’t feel it’s worth bothering their doctor; or because the treatment they’ve had in the past didn’t work.

Aloe Vera has been used successfully for centuries to combat skin conditions and bowel conditions. And although it might sound unlikely that a natural plant can help with skin conditions as well as digestive problems, it’s worth considering that the lining of the gut is endothelial tissue - like the skin.

Aloe Vera is full of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that can help heal stomach and digestive disorders. Research has shown that it balances and modulates the immune system, so lowering food intolerances, and the body’s reaction to them. (This is not a licence to take Aloe Vera, then continue eating foods you know irritate you!)

It can also soothe the stomach and help with acid reflux very quickly, as it forms a semi-protective barrier on the endothelial lining of the oesophagus; so it can help reduce the symptoms of heartburn.

Aloe Vera is reknowned for its effect of the bowel - particularly on helping both constipation and diarrhoea. It soothes, heals and allows the gut to return to its normal state of functioning. Healthy and normal.

We have countless testimonials of people that have tried a variety of Aloe Vera capsules, but quickly recognised the effectiveness of one particular brand. They have been recommended by doctors and physicians alike, and have been manufactured to ensure maximum potency and bio-availability in every capsule.

Prevent Sun Burn With Aloe Vera

Having a sun tan can make us look and feel better. The pyschological factor of not have a washed out appearance can give us self confidence and higher self esteem.

The rays of the sun are extremely beneficial to health but only in small doses. The human body was not designed to be exposed to the sun for long periods - especially white caucasions.

This does not negate the fact that when the sun makes an appearance many of us will seek to become as tanned as possible in the quickest amount of time - often laying for hours sunbathing.

Although the rays of the sun are beneficial to us, not just for appearance and pyschologically but it produces Vitamin D that is essential for our body’s good health, too much exposure can have serious long term health implications.

Sunbathing And The Skin

Our holiday in the sun usually revolves around laying by the pool or sea, soaking up as much sunshine as possible before jetting back to reality.

It is not until later on in life that we have to pay the price. The long term sun worshippers are easily spotted - too much exposure to the sun almost certainly results in premature ageing. The obsessive sunbather that will sunbathe at every given opportunity is the most likley to look wrinkled, haggered and old before their time.

It is ironic that the one thing thought responsible for inner and outer beauty will eventually contribute to the opposite. Hoist by your own petard!

Sun Tanning With Aloe Vera

The warnings about too much sun have been heeded by some and ignored by others. When all is said and done, sun shine means outdoor activities.

So what can we do to protect our skin from too much exposure to the sun.

Applying high factor suncreens or sun tan lotions is obvious and always recommended - but occasionaly we may find ourselves in a situation where we have no sun lotion to hand.

Aloe Vera For Sun Protection

Aloe Vera is a great natural substance that can not only aid and soothe the after effects of too much sun but add nutrients to the skin that enable us to bear the suns rays for longer.

Aloe vera can help slow down the ageing process of the skin and enable us to keep our much valued sun tan for longer.

Every year in the UK, approximately 25 million prescriptions are written for Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs). That doesn’t include those non-steroidal drugs that are bought over the counter.

They’re very effective. If you’ve ever injured yourself, you’ll know just how painful the inflammation in the muscles, tendons or joints can be. And that inflammation - the body’s secondary reponse to healing - can be more painful than the original injury itself. You’ve probably bought non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs from the chemist without even thinking about it. Nurofen® and Ibuprofen are over-the-counter NSAIDs.

The full list of non-steroidals covers aspirin, naproxen (Aleve®, Naprosyn®), ibuprofen (Nurofen®, Motrin®), diclofenac (Voltarol®), piroxicam (Feldene®) and others. Essentially, they are a class of drugs that have a strong anti-inflammatory effect. They’re effective in reducing mild to moderate pain - muscle strains & sprains, joint and tendon problems - as well as helping with headaches; reducing fevers; and alleviating the symptoms of coughs, colds and flu. Which is why NSAIDs also often included in many cold and allergy preparations.

So NSAIDs are widely used and prescribed; and clearly have important benefits. Yet like many manufactured drugs, there are possible complications and side-effects.

A good example is that aspirin (also an NSAID) is widely used to inhibit the blood clotting to prevent and reduce the effect of strokes and heart attacks in high-risk individuals. (A good thing.) Yet that very benefit can be a complication. Since NSAIDs prevent or reduce blood clotting, this might lead to prolonged bleeding after injury or surgery. (A bad thing.) Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can also increase blood pressure in certain patients with hypertension and so counteract the drugs used to treat hypertension. (Another bad thing.)

There are a number of other side-effects with NSAIDs. These vary between the drugs and from person to person. The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, decreased appetite, skin rashes, headaches, dizziness and drowsiness. People with asthma should be careful taking NSAIDs because of an increased risk of an allergic reaction.

If that wasn’t enough, the more serious(!) complications include fluid retention, edema, allergic reactions, duodenal and stomach ulcers, kidney failure and liver failure.

A US study puts the effect of NSAIDs into perspective: deaths from non-steroidal/gastrointestinal complications (ie. NSAIDs causing ulcers, which then bleed significantly) are higher than deaths from cervical cancer or malignant melanoma!

In the UK, those figures carry some weight. According to the evidence-based medicine website Bandolier, there are about 12,000 NSAID-related hospital admissions in the UK each year and 2,500 NSAID-related deaths.

So next time you have a mild headache, maybe think twice before you reach for that handy box of non-steroidal pills!

Ok, enough already! What’s the alternative? Not surprisingly, nature has the answer… In the same way that aspirin was derived from tree-bark, many pharmaceautical drugs take their cues from the natural properties of plants and herbs. The big pharma companies find the properties they want, then try to isolate them for a particular effect.

Why not let nature dictate what’s best? Aloe Vera has many natural properties - one of which is as a strong anti-inflammatory and analgaesic (pain-killer). Aloe has been shown to reduce swelling and inflammation with no negative side-effects. In fact the only side-effects from Aloe Vera are likely to be positive ones. Instead of having to take an NSAID with another drug, to counteract the possibility of duodenal ulcer, take Aloe Vera - which is going to protect and help heal any digestive problems — not cause them!

We’ve found one Aloe Vera tablet which is made to pharmaceutical standards, and is prescribed privately by doctors and therapists, but is no widely known… yet.
